Lights Out marks the feature film directorial debut of David F. Sandberg, who directed the film from a screenplay by Eric Heisserer, based on Sandberg’s own short film. The short film in question came out in 2013 and is watchable below. The short was roughly a 3 minutes long and plays on one of the most common fears among people – a fear of the dark.
James Wan, Lawrence Grey and Heisserer produced the feature length film, with Walter Hamada, Dave Neustadter and Richard Brener serving as executive producers.
