Disturbances – Season One: Room for Rent
Disturbances is a short web series that focuses on the occupants of a room for rent and the reasons why it’s always unoccupied.
Synopsis: The neighbors all say there is something very disturbing about the decrepit old house on the block. Some believe there may be supernatural forces at work. A “Room For Rent” sign hangs in the window, attracting unwitting guests to the house for a spell: a newlywed couple, a grieving friend, a businessman, and a recent college graduate. What the neighbors don’t see behind the closed doors is the ghost of Ivy, the elderly landlady, terrorizing each of her tenants…to death.
The four episode series is well written, and although short, has plenty of content both haunting and humorous. Each episode, lasting roughly 5-7 minutes in length, follows the story of occupants of the room that nobody dares speak about and how each came to their deaths. Although the occupants have lived different lives and have taken different paths, they share one thing in common, their killer is the ghost of an old, sadistic woman.
Overall, cinematography and special effects were great and most episodes conveyed a sense of fear and panic bar one, “Steve,” which I feel was meant to be a more comical creation than the other four. I’d like to personally congratulate each actor featured in Disturbances, it’s not often that you find such quality in such a product. In fact, the whole team behind the Disturbances series should be proud of their accomplishments.
I’d highly recommend setting aside an hour of your time to watch the web series and to take a look at the team behind the creation. Short web series’ don’t often get my attention but with Disturbances, it was a whole different kettle of fish. Watch episode one “Let Me Inside You,” below.
